F.A.Q's

What is Progressing Ballet Technique?

PBT by Marie Walton-Mahon (Progressing Ballet Technique) is an innovative program for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet.

PBT increases muscle memory, improves flexibility, strengthens technique and understanding of muscles.

Do I need to do Ballet to join this class?

No, this is a beginner class for all ages and abilities! I teach the official Junior, Senior and Advanced programme created by Marie Walton-Mahon in dance schools but the beginner class is a combination of exercises from each level slightly adapted so appropriate for a beginner class.

Do I need to bring my own ball?

You are encouraged to bring your own ball but I do have a selection of balls available to use if you don't have your own.

What size ball do I need?

When you stand next to an exercise ball, it should be even or slightly above your knee level. The best way to size up your ball is by sitting on it. When you sit on the ball, your knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle and your thighs should be parallel or even with the floor.

Height and recommended ball size:

Under 4’8″ – 45 cm ball

4’8” to 5’3” – 55 cm ball

5’4” to 5’10” – 65 cm ball

5’10 to 6’4 – 75cm ball
